The five-match Test series between India and England is set to be played in front of packed crowds after UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the lifting of COVID-19 related restrictions in the country on Monday (July 5).
India and New Zealand had played the World Test Championship final in front of a limited crowd at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton last month with the upper limited capped at 4000.
Virat Kohli and co. are currently on a break and will reassemble on July 14 in Durham. They are set to play a 'Select County XI' in a three-day match from July 20-22 after BCCI requested ECB for a warm-up match ahead of the series.
Indian team has suffered an injury blow in the form of opener Shubman Gill, who is set to be ruled out of the series with a shin injury.
The first Test will begin on August 4 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
