“I was surprised to see Shubman Gill hide his injury. He has been traveling for a long time with the Indian team. There are physios and other medical staff tracking the fitness of the players. It’s very surprising in the first place, how it happened and why it didn’t come up earlier,” Saba Karim said.

Saba Karim further said that in absence of Shubman Gill, Mayank Agarwal should be given preference as he was sidelined after just 2-3 failed innings. “Mayank should be given preference. We have been harsh towards Mayank. He was sidelined after just 2-3 failed innings,” he said.

With Shubman Gill likely to miss the Test series against England it remains to be seen who will open with Rohit Sharma in the first Test, starting 4th August at Trent Bridge.
