Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma and Pakistan batter Sidra Ameen were seen involved in an uneasy situation when the two sides clashed in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 game in Colombo on Sunday.
The Indian team, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, easily defeated the Pakistan team captained by Fatima Sana by a margin of 88 runs. Tensions and the drama that had surrounded the match over the previous three weeks were present during the game, nevertheless.
The hostility between the two teams has been highlighted by one incident involving Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma and Pakistani batter Sidra Ameen.
The incident happened in the 34th over of Pakistan’s chase. Ameen started for a quick single after tapping the ball toward the covers on the second ball of the over. Ameen was attempting to reach the non-striker's end when Deepti Sharma, who was stationed there, picked up the ball and threw it at the stumps. The ball struck Ameen's right leg, instead.
Ameen immediately stared at Sharma, and the umpire had a chat with the Indian all-rounder. But Deepti remained unapologetic and shrugged her shoulders and even told the umpire about Ameen blocking the stumps and her throw by coming in between.
