CWC 2023: “Relax Australia”- Mohammad Kaif tries to show facts on World Cup final; gets roasted by Michael Vaughan

India, who won 10 matches in a row in CWC, lost to Australia in the final.

Michael Vaughan roasted Mohammad Kaif | XMohammad Kaif tried to get one over on Australia and attempted to show some facts about the recent India v Australia ICC World Cup 2023 final. This was after his initial remark about India being best on paper got one-upped by David Warner.

Mohammad Kaif, the former Indian cricketer, stated that India was the best team on paper and that the “best team” hadn't won the 2023 World Cup. Warner then retorted on X, saying that it “doesn't matter” which team is better on the paper, how they perform on the given day is what matters.

However, Kaif wasn’t ready to back down and shared another post after Warner's retort, where he explained his previous claim with a series of 'facts'.

CWC 2023: “Never thought that my run at the World Cup would end after one match” - R Ashwin

"It was Australia's day in the final, they won, they are World Cup winners. More facts: India comprehensively won 10 games, they lost 11th, and they had the best bowlers and batters. They were the tournament's best team. Both facts, on paper and on the field. Relax Australia," read Kaif’s latest post on X.

India was the team to beat in the entire tournament winning every match in sight. They even defeated New Zealand in the first semi-final, breaking their jinx. But once again, it was Australia in the final of a World Cup, outplaying them completely when it mattered the most.

Now while Kaif might have a point in his assessment of things, former England captain Michael Vaughn decided to give his input into the matter. "Usually, the tournament's best team lifts the trophy at the end of the event," said the former England captain.

Incidentally, Mohammad Kaif was part of the Indian team that lost to Australia in the ICC World Cup 2003 final.
