CWC 2023: Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi congratulate Australia on World Cup win over India

Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam hailed Australia’s dominant performance against India in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final on Sunday, November 19, at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Babar took to Instagram to congratulate Australia on their historic sixth World Cup win after they crushed Team India by six wickets in the ICC World Cup 2023 final in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Babar Azam wrote in his Instagram story, “Congratulations Australia. What a commanding performance in the final.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s newly-appointed T20I captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, was also elated with Australia’s World Cup 2023 triumph over Team India.

While, Babar did not mention India in his Instagram story, Afridi congratulated the Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team for being the most dominating and consistent team of the World Cup 2023, with 10 wins in a row before the heartbreaking loss in the final.

Shaheen Afridi wrote on X, “Many congrats to Australia on winning the World Cup title. Surely the better team on the day. Hard luck India but the team played fantastically well throughout the tournament.”

Notably, Australian captain Pat Cummins had won the toss and opted to field first. Australians were too good with the ball, as the Men in Blue bowled out for just 240 runs in the World Cup 2023 final.

Later, the Kangaroos chased down the target in 43 overs, thanks to Travis Head’s century to win their sixth ODI World Cup trophy.
