The BCCI had planned a lot of things during the CWC final, including reports of inviting several former Cricket World Cup winning captains for the occasion. The tournament final saw a sea of celebrities from both Bollywood and cricket fraternity making their presence felt in Ahmedabad.

The former captain was visibly sad and expressed his desire for the complete 1983 team to be present with him. He did, however, accept the importance of the incident and that the busy schedules of those involved may have contributed to the error.

I wasn’t invited there. They didn’t call me so I did not go. As simple as that. I wanted the whole ’83 team to be there with me but I guess due to the fact that it’s such a big event and people are so busy handling responsibilities, sometimes they forget,” Kapil Dev told ABP News.
