Pat Cummins and co. were up against an unbeaten Indian team led by Rohit Sharma. But in a display of amazing professionalism and planning and a bit of luck, Australia broke more than a billion hearts on Sunday.

Cummins won the toss and asked India to bat first on a pitch that was a bit slow and sluggish. Despite an early burst by Rohit Sharma, Australia managed to keep India to 240 runs, taking crucial wickets at crucial times.

When it came time to chase the total, Australia was clinical in their job despite losing three wickets in the powerplay. Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne ensured that Australia won the final by 6 wickets and lifted the World Cup trophy.

It was a grand celebration by the Australians who had an excellent year in 2023. They retained the Ashes 2023 and won the ICC World Test Championship Final as well and this World Cup win was just too good.

However, during the celebration, Mitchell Marsh was clicked having his feet on the Cricket World Cup trophy. The viral photo showed Marsh striking a post with his feet on the round dome of the trophy.

This didn’t sit well with the cricket fans who slammed Marsh for disrespecting the Cricket World Cup trophy.
