Virat Kohli became the second highest run-getter in all World Cups.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul scored 50s for India | GettyThe ICC World Cup 2023 final between India and Australia is underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19. Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first on a tricky pitch.

India didn’t have a good start, losing Shubman Gill for 4 runs, but then Rohit Sharma made 47 with 4 fours and 3 sixes. But then Australia hit big with consecutive wickets of Rohit and Shreyas Iyer. Virat Kohli (54) and KL Rahul stabilized the innings looking for a late rush in the death overs.

However, the Australian bowling and especially their fielding proved to be top-notch. The bowlers kept a tight grip on proceedings with fielders backing them up. India hit 10 boundaries in the first 10 overs, but in the next 40 overs, only 4 boundaries came.

KL Rahul held the fort for 107 balls, scoring 66 runs, while Suryakumar Yadav made 18 in 28 balls. The death overs blitzkrieg never came for India and from 80/2 in 10 overs, India managed just 160 runs for the last 8 wickets.

India posted just 240 runs in 50 overs. For Australia, Mitchell Starc picked three wickets, while Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins took two each.
