India | GettyFormer Australia cricketer legend Michael Hussey praised the Indian team for their performance in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. India has won all its nine matches in the league stage of the tournament, with the latest win coming over the Netherlands in Bengaluru.

India posted 410/4 with Shreyas Iyer’s 128* and KL Rahul’s 102 being the top scores. In response, the Netherlands managed 250 and lost the game by 160 runs. India is set to face New Zealand in the first semi-final of the CWC 2023 in Mumbai on November 15.

Michael Hussey heaped praise on the Indian team and said that the squad looks amazing and they’ve all the bases covered.

India looks great, don’t they? Their squad looks amazing. They’ve got all the bases covered. They’re playing with confidence. They look like they are loving it at the moment,” Hussey said on Fox Sports.

He went on to say that he still wants to see how India will do in the knockout stages.

They look like the team to beat, no question. For me, the question mark coming in was, could (India) handle that home pressure, playing in front of their home crowd and delivering? I still want to see them play in the knockout stage, where you lose, you go home. Does that change their mentality at all?” Hussey added.

Hussey said the new generation of Indian players doesn't care about the past and doesn’t carry old baggage. India will be aiming to win their third ODI World Cup title and their second one on home soil.

My observation of this generation of players is they don’t care. They don’t care about the past. They’re writing their destiny. This new generation of Indian cricketers, they don’t seem to worry about the old baggage or the old scars. They’re trying to go out there and forge their destiny,” said Hussey.
