CWC 2023: ICC unveils list of match officials for World Cup semi-finals

India will take on New Zealand in the first semi-final while Australia will face South Africa in the second semi-final.

Rod Tucker and Richard Illingworth will play the role of on-field umpires in first semi-final | GettyThe International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday (November 13) confirmed the match officials for the semi-finals of the Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

The teams are locked for the final-four stage. While India will take on New Zealand in Mumbai on November 15, Australia and South Africa will square off in Kolkata on November 16.

Rod Tucker and Richard Illingworth will play the role of on-field umpires in the India versus New Zealand clash. It is going to be a re-match of the 2019 World Cup semi-final, where the Kiwis had defeated India by 18 runs at Old Trafford.

For the first semi-final, Joel Wilson has been appointed as the third umpire while Adrian Holdstock will act as the fourth umpire. Andy Pycroft will perform the role of a match referee.

Nitin Menon and Richard Kettleborough will stand in as on-field umpires in the second semi-final between Australia and South Africa.

Chris Gaffaney will officiate in the all-important fixture as third umpire. Michael Gough (fourth umpire) and Javagal Srinath (match referee) complete the match officials line-up.

“We are happy to announce the match officials for the semifinals of the World Cup. The officiating team has performed to a high standard to this point of the event, and I wish those in the knockouts all the very best,” Sean Easey, ICC manager of umpires and referees, said in a statement.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Rod and Richard for their milestones during this World Cup. Such achievements are only earned via consistently strong performances which is a credit to each of them.”

Semi-final 1: India v New Zealand, November 15, Mumbai.

On-field Umpires: Richard Illingworth and Rod Tucker

Third Umpire: Joel Wilson

Fourth Umpire: Adrian Holdstock

Match Referee: Andy Pycroft

Semi-final 2: Australia v South Africa, November 16, Kolkata.

On-field Umpires: Richard Kettleborough and Nitin Menon

Third Umpire: Chris Gaffaney

Fourth Umpire: Michael Gough
