The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday (November 13) confirmed the match officials for the semi-finals of the Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
The teams are locked for the final-four stage. While India will take on New Zealand in Mumbai on November 15, Australia and South Africa will square off in Kolkata on November 16.
Rod Tucker and Richard Illingworth will play the role of on-field umpires in the India versus New Zealand clash. It is going to be a re-match of the 2019 World Cup semi-final, where the Kiwis had defeated India by 18 runs at Old Trafford.
For the first semi-final, Joel Wilson has been appointed as the third umpire while Adrian Holdstock will act as the fourth umpire. Andy Pycroft will perform the role of a match referee.
Nitin Menon and Richard Kettleborough will stand in as on-field umpires in the second semi-final between Australia and South Africa.
Chris Gaffaney will officiate in the all-important fixture as third umpire. Michael Gough (fourth umpire) and Javagal Srinath (match referee) complete the match officials line-up.
“We are happy to announce the match officials for the semifinals of the World Cup. The officiating team has performed to a high standard to this point of the event, and I wish those in the knockouts all the very best,” Sean Easey, ICC manager of umpires and referees, said in a statement.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Rod and Richard for their milestones during this World Cup. Such achievements are only earned via consistently strong performances which is a credit to each of them.”
