Virat Kohli celebrates his maiden World Cup wicket | HotStarIndia’s star batter Virat Kohli on Sunday (November 12) claimed his maiden World Cup wicket as he dismissed Netherlands skipper Scott Edwards at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

During the 25th over of Dutch innings, Kohli tried bowling a wide. However, Edwards didn’t opt to leave the ball and instead went for a glance, only to be strangled down the leg side.

Wicketkeeper KL Rahul completed an easy catch behind the stumps to ensure that Kohli got his fifth wicket in ODI cricket.

The dismissal of Scott Edwards left the entire Bangalore crowd delighted, including Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma.

After Hardik Pandya was ruled out of the World Cup due to an ankle injury, India head coach Rahul Dravid has said that Kohli might bowl in some of the games as a sixth bowler.

"Yes, we don't have the option to have a sixth proper bowler but we have a wrong-footed inswinger menace whom we can back for a couple of overs. He was close to doing so in the last game with the crowd pushing him to do so. The response of the team and the players have been really good," Dravid told reporters on the eve of India’s league match against South Africa.

Widely regarded as one of the finest batters of the modern era, Virat Kohli has been in terrific form with the bat in this World Cup, amassing 594 runs from nine innings at an average of 99, including two hundreds and five half-centuries.
