CWC 2023: Fans slam David Willey after his “don’t be fooled” Instagram stories show two different scenes of Kolkata

David Willey is expected to play his final match for England in Kolkata against Pakistan.

David Willey | GettyEngland all-rounder David Willey came in for huge criticism at the hands of cricket fans in India after he posted a story on his Instagram account. Willey has already announced his retirement from international cricket.

He is expected to play his final match for England when they clash with Pakistan in Kolkata on November 11 in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. While England has been knocked out of the race for the semi-finals, Pakistan is still in it, mathematically.

However, before the match, David Willey invited a huge controversy as he shared two stories on his Instagram account.

He posted one photo from poolside in the hotel where the England team is staying in Kolkata with the caption “Don’t be fooled” and the next image showed some construction work and housing buildings in Kolkata, with the caption “Reality”.

This attempt of Willey to showcase the supposed difference in the society in Kolkata and living standards backfired spectacularly on him as Indian fans slammed the cricketer.

They were not happy with Willey trying to showcase the difference in lives of rich people and normal citizens in India despite being given the best possible treatment as a guest of this city and country.
