CWC 2023: WATCH- 'No.1 ODI ranking doesn't matter to me, goal is India wins the World Cup'- Mohammed Siraj

Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj gracefully downplayed personal accolades after regaining the number one spot in the latest ICC ODI Players' Rankings, as he wants to win the World Cup 2023 trophy for India.

Siraj became the number one ODI bowler in the world on November 8, thanks to his stunning performances in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. He has snared ten wickets in eight CWC 2023 matches while maintaining an enviable economy rate of 5.23.

Well, amidst the spotlight on his personal success, Siraj remained focussed on the collective triumph of the Indian cricket team in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.

In a conversation with the ICC, the Indian pacer stressed that his ultimate goal is to help the team win the Cricket World Cup. Siraj hopes that Team India will continue to deliver winning performances in the tournament. Notably, India has won all eight matches so far in the tournament.

Mohammed Siraj was quoted as saying by ICC:To be honest, I was No.1 for some time in between, then I went down. The number doesn't matter to me. The goal is that India wins the World Cup. That is the team and my goal. I hope my performance is good for India. This is all that matters.”

He further said, “I feel so proud to be part of this team. The involvement and giving such a performance in the World Cup. I am glad to be with this team. All I want is for this team perform well in each match from here. So, very happy with this unit.”
