Ravi Shastri was ready to coach England team when a fan poster during the England v Netherlands ICC World Cup 2023 made Eoin Morgan ask the former India captain the question.
This was during England’s 160-run win over Netherlands in Pune on November 8, 2023. England batted first and posted 339/9 with Ben Stokes scoring a century and Dawid Malan and Chris Woakes hitting fifties.
In response, Netherlands never got going in their chase and could only muster 179 with Teja Nidamanuru top-scoring with 41*. This win also propelled England to the 7th spot in ICC points table, almost confirming their qualification for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, during the match, an Indian fan was seen holding a placard which read: “England needs an Indian coach”. Seeing the same on the screen, Eoin Morgan, England’s 2019 World Cup winning captain, asked his fellow commentator Ravi Shastri, if he’d be interested.
Shastri, who coached Indian team for several years, gave a hilarious answer, that too in Hindi and then translated the same into English.
He said: “Haan humko bulao, hum sabko Hindi sikhayegaa (What I am trying to say is most welcome, I’ll teach everyone Hindi and some cricket as well)”
