CWC 2023: WATCH- Logan van Beek nutmegs Joe Root to rattle his timber while attempting reverse scoop

A fan in the stands facepalmed hard seeing the way Joe Root got out.

Joe Root| XEngland batter Joe Root is known for his reverse scoop shot that he executes so well against pacers. But this same shot became a reason for embarrassment in the ongoing England v Netherlands ICC World Cup 2023 match in Pune.

England captain Joe Root won the toss and chose to bat first in their penultimate CWC 2023 league game. Dawid Malan gave them a good start by scoring 87 in 74 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes, while Jonny Bairstow made 15 runs.

Joe Root took his time to get set, scoring 28 runs in 35 balls with one four as Netherlands bowlers kept a leash on scoring.

A bit frustrated by the lack of boundaries from his bat, Joe Root decided to take the fancy route in the 21st over bowled by Logan van Beek. On the second ball, which Van Beek bowled on a length, Root prepped himself for his famous reverse scoop shot.

However, the ball moved into him a bit and nutmegged him before hitting the stumps. Joe Root was bowled in between his legs in the most embarrassing fashion possible.
