Virat Kohli made his 35th birthday special as he smashed a century for India in their ICC World Cup 2023 match against South Africa in Kolkata on November 5. India defeated South Africa by 243 runs, handing them their biggest defeat in ODIs ever.
Kohli scored 101* on his birthday and equaled Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI tons. He and Shreyas Iyer’s 77 built on the start given by Rohit Sharma (40) and helped India put on 326/5 in 50 overs.
In response, Jadeja starred with the ball, taking 5/33 as South Africa was routed for 83 runs. With this 243-run win, India has confirmed its No. 1 spot on the CWC 2023 points table.
After the match ended in the favour of the hosts, the entire Indian camp celebrated the joyous occasion in style. Ravindra Jadeja and Virat Kohli celebrated at the team hotel by cutting cakes. The all-rounder playfully took some cake and tried to apply it to Kohli's face, but he seemed to have successfully evaded the attempt.

Team India will now be squaring off against the Netherlands in their last group-stage match on November 12 in Bengaluru.
