India and South Africa are clashing in the 37th match of the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 tournament. This match is being played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on November 5, 2023. India has won all 7 of its games thus far, while South Africa has lost only one game out of 7.
Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first in the clash between two teams who have qualified for the semi-finals. India made no change to their playing XI, while South Africa brought in Tabraiz Shamsi for Gerald Coetzee.
Rohit once again gave India a flying start with a 24-ball 40 with 2 sixes and 6 fours to his name. Shubman Gill made 23 runs as well. But Virat Kohli, on his 35th birthday, and Shreyas Iyer laid a great platform for a launch in the final overs. They added 134 runs for the third wicket.
Shreyas Iyer fell for 77 with 7 fours and 2 sixes, while Kohli is still going strong, anchoring the innings, at the time of writing this article.
Meanwhile, India keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik was not happy with the way Proteas captain Temba Bavuma let the game slip a bit into Indian batters’ hands. Karthik was critical of Bavuma’s captaincy and field placements as well, as India neared an above-par score of 300.
“This is not great captaincy from Temba Bavuma. Been very defensive in field placements and hence it's been much easier for @ShreyasIyer15 and @imVkohli who have batted clever so far. The lack of experience on slow pitches slowing,” Karthik posted on X.
He also predicted a huge win for India and posted: “TEAM INDIA is going to win this match by a BIGGG margin”
