All-rounder Mitchell Marsh will rejoin the Australian team on Sunday (November 5) in Mumbai, after missing their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match against England on Saturday.

Marsh had flown home due to 'personal reasons' and it was later revealed that his grandfather Ross passed away on Friday. The Australian team wore black armbands in his memory in the England clash at Ahmedabad.

Australia currently sit third on the points table with five wins from seven matches, having defeated England by 33 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Marsh is likely to be available for selection in their next match against Afghanistan on Tuesday in Mumbai.

Marsh has scored 225 runs in six matches, which includes a century against Pakistan and half-century against Sri Lanka. Though he started the tournament as an opener, he was shifted to number three after the return of Travis Head against New Zealand in Dharamsala and is likely to bat at the same spot against Afghanistan.

Glenn Maxwell, who also missed the England match due to concussion after he fell down from a moving gold buggy, is also expected to return against Afghanistan. Another win at Wankhede Stadium will confirm Australia's place in the semi-finals.
