Bangladesh batter Litton Das has flown back home due to a ‘family emergency’ in middle of the Tigers' extremely poor performance in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.

Reportedly, Litton Das and his wife are expecting their first child, and he had to leave the team midway through the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.

Rabeed Imam, the media and communications manager of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), confirmed that Litton Das left the Bangladesh camp after Pakistan match, for Dhaka to be with his wife for the arrival of his first child.

However, Imam said that Litton will re-join the Bangladesh squad on November 3, before the team’s training session. He is likely to be available for their upcoming match against Sri Lanka, scheduled for November 6 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

Rabeed was quoted as saying to The Daily Star: “Due to his family emergency, Liton took a leave and will join the team ahead of the team's training session scheduled on November 3 in Delhi.”

The talented right-handed batter has scored 235 runs with the help of the two half-centuries in the tournament.

Bangladesh has only one win from 7 matches and became the first team to be eliminated from the race for the semi-finals of the ICC World Cup 2023. They still have a chance to qualify for the Champions Trophy in 2025 if they win their next two matches against Sri Lanka and Australia.
