South Africa continued their dominating run in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 as they demolished New Zealand by a huge margin of 190 runs in Pune on November 1. This also took them back on top of the points table with 12 points from 7 games.

New Zealand captain Tom Latham had won the toss and chose to bowl first. This decision proved to be the wrong one as South Africa's batting already loves getting the first go and they made the most out of the opportunity.

Rassie van der Dussen (133) and Quinton de Kock (114) added 200 runs for the second wicket. This was Quinton de Kock’s 4th century in this tournament and Van der Dussen’s second. After they departed, David Miller (53) propelled South Africa to 357/4 in 50 overs.

New Zealand was hampered as pacer Matt Henry could only bowl 5.3 overs and went off the field due to a hamstring injury.

In response, Marco Jansen dismissed Devon Conway (9) and Rachin Ravindra (9) for cheap. There was no way New Zealand could give a fight to South Africa as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Glenn Phillips stood out with a knock of 60, while Will Young made 33 and Daryl Mitchell scored 24.

Keshav Maharaj took 4/46, while Marco Jansen took 3/31 as New Zealand folded for 167 runs in 35.3 overs. South Africa won the match by a massive 190 runs.

The cricket fraternity was all praises for a clinical and dominating performance from Temba Bavuma and Co.
