CWC 2023: WATCH- Wasim Akram hails Pakistan's 'complete performance' against Bangladesh

Wasim Akram also congratulated Shaheen Afridi on 100 ODI wickets.

Wasim Akram hailed Pakistan for making a good comeback in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 with a seven-wicket win over Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on October 31.

Legendary pacer Wasim Akram said Pakistan put in a complete performance against Bangladesh in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata to snap their 4-match losing streak in the competition.

Pakistan bowled out Bangladesh for 204 runs in 45.1 overs and chased down the target with seven wickets in hand inside 33 overs in Kolkata. For Bangladesh, Mahmudullah was the top scorer with 56 runs, while Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Jr. each snared three wickets for Pakistan. 

Fakhar Zaman (81) and Abdullah Shafique (68) smashed fifties against Bangladesh as Pakistan won by 7 wickets in hand and 105 balls remaining. With this win, Pakistan moved to 5th spot in points table with with 6 points from 7 matches.

Wasim Akram told A Sports: “We knew about the talent in this Pakistan side. Yes, they did not start the World Cup well but they made a good comeback today. They have a chance, they need to win their games and see what happens with other results. But overall, it was a complete performance from Pakistan.”

The legendary pace bowler also congratulated Shaheen Afridi for becoming the fastest pacer to claim 100 ODI wickets.

Akram further said, “The bowlers started off well. Many congratulations to Shaheen Afridi for becoming the fastest pacer to pick 100 ODI wickets. That's a big deal. Well done. Mohammad Wasim Jr. bowled well. I said he looked the part in their previous match and he showed that he's arrived.”

He also hailed Pakistan bowlers and their fielding effort against Bangladesh.

He signed off by saying, “Of course, Haris Rauf bowled well and the spinners bowled well. The fielding was good. Everything looked good, which is a good sign for Pakistan cricket in this World Cup.”
