The 26th match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 between Pakistan and South Africa turned out to be a nail-biting affair, with the latter emerging victorious by a narrow margin of one wicket.

The game was also marked by a controversial DRS decision, involving the Proteas batter Rassie van der Dussen.

During the 19th over of South Africa's innings, the technology threw a glitch after Van der Dussen was adjudged LBW off Usama Mir's delivery.

On-field umpire Paul Reiffel raised his finger, but the South African No. 3 opted for a review and that is where all the confusion started.

Initially, the ball-tracking technology showed that the ball would have gone on to miss the leg stump but that tracking was taken down immediately. After a few seconds, another tracking was shown and the ball was clipping the stump this time around.

On both occasions, the tracking showed the ball was pitching in line and the impact was 'umpire's call'. However, the ball had a different trajectory on the final part, much to the shock of the cricket fans and experts alike.

The decision created quite a stir on social media. Amid the outrage, the International Cricket Council (ICC) acknowledged a glitch in the technology but clarified that the right decision was eventually made.

"In today's match between South Africa and Pakistan, an incomplete graphic was erroneously displayed during the LBW review of Rassie van der Dussen. The completed graphic with the right details was ultimately displayed," an ICC spokesperson was quoted as saying by Wisden.

Coming to the match, Pakistan posted 270 runs on the board on the back of half-centuries from Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel.

In reply, South Africa overhauled the target with 47.2 overs, with Keshav Maharaj hitting the winning boundary.
