CWC 2023: WATCH – Mohammad Hafeez asks ICC to show coin with spider cam during toss process

Hafeez pointed out that the toss coin usually goes 5-10 metres away whenever a captain spins it.

Rohit Sharma and Babar Azam at the toss | GettyFormer Pakistan skipper Mohammad Hafeez on Wednesday (October 25) came up with a suggestion for the International Cricket Council (ICC) with regards to the toss.

Taking to social media platform X, Hafeez posted a video, in which he urged the apex body to make use of the spider cam to show the result of the toss.

Hafeez also claimed that when he was the captain of the Pakistan cricket team in 2012, he had requested an ICC official to show the toss coin through spider cam to make the process transparent.

Hafeez pointed out that the coin usually goes 5-10 metres away whenever a captain spins it and, thus, he recommended the use of spider cam for everyone’s clarity.

While sharing his views, Hafeez also clarified that he is not doubting the credibility of the match referee, who oversees the entire toss process.

“Spider cam technology should be used to show toss result #CWC23,” Hafeez wrote in the caption of the video he shared on X.

Mohammad Hafeez represented Pakistan in 55 Tests, 218 ODIs and 119 T20Is, amassing 12000+ runs across formats with 21 centuries. He also claimed a total of 253 wickets in international cricket.
