Australia opener David Warner continued his brilliant run of form in the ongoing World Cup as he slammed a century against Netherlands at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Wednesday (October 25).
Opting to bat first, the Aussies lost Mitchell Marsh cheaply but Warner anchored the innings brilliantly. The southpaw built the foundation of a gigantic total by adding 132 runs for the second wicket with Steve Smith (71).
After Smith’s dismissal, Warner stitched an 84-run partnership with Marnus Labuschagne (62). The left-hander completed his century in 91 balls with a boundary off Bas de Leede during the 39th over.
David Warner celebrated his three-figure mark with his trademark jump and then followed it up with the ‘Pushpa’ signature move. He is a big fan of Allu Arjun and reminded the fans in Delhi of his love for Indian cinema yet again.
Warner was eventually dismissed by Logan van Beek in the 40th over for 104 off 93 balls, including 11 fours and 3 sixes.
It was his second successive century in the ongoing World Cup and sixth overall in the quadrennial event, equalling the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Only India skipper Rohit Sharma, with seven tons to his name, is ahead of Warner in the list of most hundreds in World Cup cricket.
