Pandya had injured his ankle in the CWC 2023 match against Bangladesh and missed the next tie against New Zealand.

Reports have stated that Pandya, who is receiving treatment at the NCA, is yet to begin bowling in the nets and the medical team will wait for a few more days to let him recover at the facility in Bangalore. He is expected to join the Indian team in Mumbai or Kolkata.

Indian team is on a break after defeating New Zealand last Sunday in Dharamshala. Their next match is slated to be played in Sunday, October 29 against England in Lucknow.

The Indian team management does not want to rush him and is hopeful that he would be fully healthy for the final two games. With India on a winning streak in this World Cup, team management wants a fully healthy Pandya for the semi-finals.

“Team India vice-captain Hardik Pandya sustained an injury to his left ankle while fielding on his own bowling during India’s match against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. The all-rounder was taken for scans and is advised rest. He will be under the constant supervision of the BCCI Medical Team,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah had said in its statement.

Pandya was initially expected to join the Indian team in Lucknow but that assessment has changed now.

Mohammad Shami had replaced him in the Indian XI against New Zealand as the bowling option and picked a fifer and was named the Player of the Match.
