CWC 2023: Cricket fraternity reacts as Quinton de Kock’s scintillating 174 takes South Africa to 382/5

Aiden Markram made 60, Heinrich Klaasen scored 90, adding 100-plus runs each with De Kock.

This encounter is being played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where the Proteas defeated England in their last game.

Bangladesh came into this game on the back of a loss to India. Aiden Markram continued to captain South Africa and won the toss. Lizard Williams came into the XI in place of Lungi Ngidi, while Temba Bavuma remained unavailable for selection.

Shakib Al Hasan returned to captain the Bangladeshi side and replaced Towhid Hridoy in the playing XI.

South Africa didn’t get the flying start like the last time as Reeza Hendricks fell for 12 runs and Rassie van der Dussen only made 1. Then Aiden Markram (60) added 131 runs with Quinton De Kock for the third wicket to lay the platform for the launch off.

Quinton de Kock brought up his century in 101 balls. He continued as Heinrich Klaasen joined in the fun. Both began attacking the Bangladeshi bowlers in unison. Quinton de Kock finally fell for 174 runs with 15 fours and 7 sixes to his name. He added 147 runs with Klaasen for the 4th wicket.

After his departure, Klaasen continued from where he had left off against England and kept hitting the Bangladeshi bowlers into stands in Wankhede stadium. Klaasen made 90 runs with 8 sixes and 2 fours and got out in the last over.

David Miller's quick 15-ball 34* helped South Africa decimate the Bangladesh bowling to reach a final score of 382/5 in 50 overs.

The cricket fraternity was in awe of South Africa's dominance with the bat in this World Cup and lauded their performance against Bangladesh on X.
