CWC 2023: WATCH- Shreyas Iyer signals for ‘best fielder’ medal from T Dilip after his brilliant diving catch of Devon Conway

India won the toss against New Zealand and opted to bowl first.

Shreyas Iyer's brilliant catch of Devon Conway | XIndia and New Zealand, the two undefeated teams in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023, are clashing in the 21st match of the tournament. This match is being played in Dharamshala on October 22, 2023.

India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first. He also revealed that Suryakumar Yadav was making his World Cup debut and also Mohammad Shami was included in the playing XI. Tom Latham said that New Zealand was unchanged.

Jasprit Bumrah started with a maiden over and Mohammed Siraj continued the pressure on. Both Devon Conway and Will Young looked cautious against the Indian pacers who moved the ball slightly in the air and off the pitch as well.

In the 4th over, Mohammed Siraj bowled a full half-volley at the pads of Devon Conway, whose eyes lit up at the freebie. Looking to open his account, Conway flicked the ball towards the leg-side but played it in the air.

Shreyas Iyer, who was stationed at the forward square leg for this particular purpose, dived full length to his right and caught the ball in both hands, sending Conway back for a 9-ball duck.

The Indian fielding coach T Dilip instituted a medal for best fielding efforts by the Men in Blue players in this World Cup. Virat Kohli got the medal in the first match and Shardul Thakur in the second. Then KL Rahul got the award. Ravindra Jadeja was the last to receive this medal for his catch against Bangladesh.

After taking the catch, Shreyas Iyer turned towards T Dilip who was patrolling the boundary ropes, and gestured to give him the medal for the best fielder.
