Former Indian cricketer Dodda Ganesh has voiced his concerns and reservations about Shardul Thakur’s bowling performance in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Ganesh didn't mince words in his observation on social media, as he highlighted Shardul's underwhelming contributions to Team India’s four wins at the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023.

It's been a challenging journey for Shardul so far in the tournament, as the Indian all-rounder has only managed to secure two wickets across the three games he's played for the Men in Blue so far.

Meanwhile, Ganesh launched a scathing attack on Thakur and questioned his place in Team India’s playing XI in the prestigious World Cup 2023.

The former cricketer said that the all-rounder would struggle to make it to Karnataka’s playing XI in any format on his bowling performance, despite featuring so regularly for India.

Dodda Ganesh wrote on X: “With all due respect to Shardul Thakur, on his bowling performance alone he would struggle to make it to Karnataka’s playing XI in any format, let alone India’s CWC 23.”

Notably, India have won all four games so far in the tournament and sit at the top of the points table with eight points gained against Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

The Men in Blue will next face New Zealand in their fifth game in the ongoing World Cup 2023 on Sunday, October 22, in Dharamshala, and Shardul is likely to retain his place in the playing XI, as Hardik Pandya was ruled out of the match due to an ankle injury.
