This was David Warner's 5th World Cup ton, equaling Ricky Ponting's record for Australia.

Mitch Marsh made 121 and added 259 runs with David Warner | GettyAustralian openers David Warner and Mitchell Marsh wreaked havoc on Pakistan in the ongoing 18th match of the ICC World Cup 2023 tournament. This encounter is being played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on October 20, 2023.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and chose to bowl first on a batting beauty wicket in Bengaluru. Pakistan made one change as Usama Mir replaced Shadab Khan in the playing XI. Australia came into this game unchanged.

David Warner and Mitchell Marsh went after the Pakistani bowling right from the first over. Warner even got a life when Usama Mir dropped a sitter catch of his off Shaheen Afridi in the 5th over.

Taking advantage of this, Warner and Marsh hammered the Pakistani bowlers to all corners of Chinnaswamy Stadium.

He celebrated with his customary jump and then followed it up with the ‘Pushpa’ signature move. Warner is a big fan of Allu Arjun and reminded the fans in Bengaluru of his love for Indian cinema yet again.

Warner scored 163 with 14 fours and 9 sixes and this was Warner’s third score of over 150 in World Cups, the most by any batter in World Cup history. He also equaled Ricky Ponting’s record for most tons in the ODI World Cup by Australia with 5 centuries.

After his wicket, Pakistan managed to claw their way back with cheap wickets of Glenn Maxwell (0) and Steve Smith (7). Josh Inglis (13) and Marcus Stoinis (21) contributed a bit but Shaheen Afridi picked a fifer (5/54) amongst all the carnage.

Australia finished with a good total of 367/9 in 50 overs.
