Ace India batter Virat Kohli scored his 48th ODI century as the Men in Blue defeated Bangladesh in their fourth match of the ICC World Cup 2023. This encounter was played in Pune on October 19.
Bangladesh posted 256/8 in 50 overs with Tanzid Hasan (51), Litton Das (66), and Mahmudullah (46) being the top scorers. Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah each grabbed two wickets for India.
In reply, Rohit Sharma (48), and Shubman Gill (53) gave India a good start. But the innings of the match came from Virat Kohli who made 103* with 6 fours and 4 sixes to his name. He farmed strike as India neared the victory and he neared his century.
He got to the milestone with a six and celebrated jubilantly. He also thanked the almighty during his celebration. This was his third century in World Cups and the first this edition.
During his knock, he completed 26,000 runs in international cricket and went past Mahela Jayawardena to become the fourth-highest run-getter in international cricket.
