CWC 2023: WATCH- KL Rahul’s diving one-handed blinder of a catch to dismiss Mehidy Hasan Miraz

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first.

KL Rahul's catch to dismiss Mehidy Hasan | ICCIndia and Bangladesh are clashing in an interesting encounter at the MCA stadium in Pune on October 19, 2023. This is the 17th match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup tournament. India has won all of its three matches thus far, while Bangladesh has won one and lost two.

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first. Shakib Al Hasan missed out due to his quad injury and Najmul Hossain Shanto captained the side in his absence. India came into this match unchanged.

Openers Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das started cautiously, but opened up after settling in on a batting friendly pitch. However, the openers took command shortly as they added 93 runs in 14.1 overs. Tanzid Hasan made 51 and Litton Das scored 66 runs.

Rohit Sharma had to wait a lot for the first wicket to fall, which came courtesy Kuldeep Yadav, who sent back Tanzid, who was out LBW. Ravindra Jadeja then accounted for the Bangladesh skipper for 8 runs.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who had scored a century against India in the bilateral series last year, was one of the dangerous batters in such conditions. But Rohit Sharma brought back Mohammed Siraj into the attack.

In the 25th over, on the first ball, Mohammed Siraj bowled a cross seam short ball into Mehidy’s body. The batter tried to nudge it to fine leg, but the ball managed to take the edge of the bat and flew down the leg side.

KL Rahul moved brilliantly to his left side and dived full length to take an amazing one-handed catch. He burst into a joyous celebration and was accompanied by his teammates after that as India continued to take wickets after Bangladesh were ahead in the game early on.
