Netherlands pulled off a historic 38-run victory over South Africa in Dharamsala.

Edwards’ comment came after Netherlands pulled off a historic 38-run victory over South Africa at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.

The match was reduced to 43 overs per side due to inclement weather. Invited to bat first, the Dutch team posted 245/8 on the board on the back of Scott Edwards’ unbeaten knock of 78 in 69 balls, including 10 fours and a six.

Defending the total, the Netherlands bowlers delivered a disciplined performance and bundled out the Proteas for 207 in 42.5 overs.

Speaking to the broadcasters after the win, Edwards said he was determined to stick around till the end.

"I think over the last couple of games, our issue has been losing wickets before the innings ends. So I just thought of sticking around and I was supported nicely from the other end," said Edwards, who forged a crucial 64-run partnership for the eighth wicket with Roelof van der Merwe.

Netherlands’ No. 10 batter Aryan Dutt also played a stunning cameo of 23 in just nine deliveries.

"It's good fun to bat with Roelof. He hits in some strange areas and runs hard between the wickets, which is always challenging. I just tried to get him on strike and he was clearing the ropes. Certainly one of the best hitting I have seen in a while, especially from a number 10 batter," Edwards added.

Commenting on the win, the captain said he was proud of the team and claimed they had set high targets for the showpiece tournament.

"Really proud of the boys. We came into the tournament and hoped to play in the semi-finals. To do so, we have to beat the top teams and South Africa are certainly favorites in this tournament. So happy to get over the line," said Edwards.
