Pakistan captain Babar Azam was booed by the crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad at the toss for the India World Cup 2023 match on October 14. Both sides came into this match having won their first two matches in the tournament.
India defeated Australia and Afghanistan in their opening encounters, while Pakistan defeated the Netherlands and Sri Lanka.
Rohit Sharma won the toss in Ahmedabad and India opted to bowl. Shubman Gill made his Cricket World Cup debut in place of Ishan Kishan. Pakistan, on the other hand, came in unchanged.
A huge roar went up in the crowd when Rohit announced that Shubman was back to make his World Cup debut as the fans in Ahmedabad cheered the Gujarat Titans hero who has a sensational record in Ahmedabad.
This is the first time the two sides are clashing in Ahmedabad and the crowd greeted Pakistan captain Babar Azam with boos. He had begun to talk to the presenter after the toss and the boos were heard at the biggest cricket stadium in the world. Pakistan captain Babar Azam did not respond to the boos but talked up the atmosphere.
