Former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Gautam Gambhir made a big statement as he shared his thoughts on the comparisons between Jasprit Bumrah and Shaheen Shah Afridi ahead of the India vs. Pakistan ICC World Cup 2023 clash on Saturday, October 14, at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
It seems that Gambhir took his famous rivalry with Shahid Afridi seriously, as the BJP MP added fuel to the biggest cricketing rivalry ahead of the much-awaited Cricket World Cup 2023 match between India and Pakistan by not considering Shaheen in Bumrah’s league of fast bowlers.
Gambhir hailed Bumrah as the most lethal bowler in world cricket at the moment and claimed that there is no match between the Indian speedster and the Pakistani pacer Afridi.
Gautam Gambhir said on Star Sports: “The way he dismissed Mitchell Marsh on that wicket (in the first game against Australia) and the way he dismissed Ibrahim Zadra, if there is a complete and most lethal bowler in world cricket, it is Bumrah. We compared Jasprit Bumrah and Shaheen Shah Afridi earlier; there is a huge difference.”
The former opener mentioned that there is a big difference between Bumrah and Afridi. He said that the Indian pacer is a rare kind of bowler who can make an impact throughout the match.
Gambhir signed off by saying, “Tell me one fast bowler who can make such an impact in every phase. Bowlers bowl well either with the new ball or at the death but Bumrah has the same impact in the middle overs as he has with the new ball or the old ball.”
