As Team India is sweating over Shubman Gill’s recovery from dengue fever, Sanjay Manjrekar said that the Men in Blue are strong enough to beat all nine teams even without the young opener to win the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on home soil.

Gill is still recovering from dengue and will be in Team India’s second CWC 2023 clash against Afghanistan on October 11, after the opening match against Australia on October 8. Also, there are high chances for Gill to miss the high-octane match against Pakistan on October 14.

Speaking on Star Sports, Sanjay Manjrekar said: “Disappointing for him personally more than the team because the team has enough options to continue to be strong, and we saw that in the first game as well. The team is strong and good enough to beat all the opposition despite Shubman Gill not being there.”

However, the cricket commentator said that the presence of Gill makes the Indian team even stronger, but the current situation is beyond control. The former Indian also said that Gill is an extremely watchable player, and fans are currently missing him.

Manjrekar noted, “Having said that, Shubman Gill just makes the team even stronger and the kind of form that he has been in, you want to cash in. This is the worst possible time that you want to miss matches and it's been beyond his control.”

He signed off by saying, “What I will say though is that the fans, people who come to the ground and the people who watch on TV, will miss him because this guy is extremely watchable. He gets runs beautifully, so it's fun to watch. So that aspect will be lost but I don't see India in trouble too much.”
