Zainab Abbas | GettyPakistani sports presenter Zainab Abbas, who was part of ICC's World Cup 2023 broadcasting team, made a controversial exit from India on Monday (October 9) over her alleged old tweets which were Hinduphobic in nature.

Amid the recent development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has denied the reports that Zainab was deported from India.

Speaking to Arab News, ICC official C. Rajshekhar Rao said that Zainab’s exit from the country was due to ‘personal reasons’. “She has left for a personal reason and was not deported,” he said.

For the unversed, an Indian lawyer named Vineet Jindal recently filed a complaint against Zainab with New Delhi police’s cyber cell after some of her alleged anti-Hindu posts from a few years ago resurfaced on X (formerly Twitter).

In his post on X, the advocate demanded Zainab’s removal from the list of presenters for the ongoing World Cup, claiming that “anti Bharat people are not welcome in Bharat.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan media outlet Samaa TV, citing unnamed sources, claimed that Zainab Abbas has categorically denied the allegations and also reported that she is currently in Dubai.
