Team India spinner Ravindra Jadeja is on fire in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Australia. This match is being played in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on October 8, 2023.

Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat first. He also revealed that Adam Zampa was the Kangaroos’ only specialist spinner with Glenn Maxwell aiding him in the spin department. But they are going in with three pacers Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Cummins.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma revealed that Ishan Kishan will open with him as Shubman Gill is still unwell after contracting dengue. India went with three spinners Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and R Ashwin.

Jasprit Bumrah gave India an early wicket as Mitchell Marsh was caught by Virat Kohli in slips for a duck. But the experienced Steve Smith and David Warner (41) added 69 runs for the second wicket. Warner was out-caught and bowled by Kuldeep Yadav.

Smith was then joined by Marnus Labuschagne and it looked like the two batters would lay a good platform for Australia so that their big hitters could launch from. However, Ravindra Jadeja was then introduced in the attack by Rohit Sharma and he changed the game immediately.

He bowled an amazing delivery in the 28th over to Steve Smith which pitched on the middle stump and spun just enough to beat his bat and struck the off-stump. Even Smith was impressed with the ball and walked off disappointed scoring 46 runs.

In the next over, Jadeja got rid of Marnus Labuschagne and Alex Carey both. Marnus tried to sweep a full ball on off-stump. The ball took the edge and KL Rahul took a sharp catch, but Labuschagne took the DRS review. Ultra edge showed a spike as the ball passed through the bat and he had to walk back for 27 runs.

Then it was the turn of Alex Carey, who was trapped LBW on the second ball he faced and was given out by the umpire. Jadeja’s three quick strikes left Australia 119/5 in the 30th over.
