Ahead of India’s opening ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Australia, Team India head coach Rahul Dravid sounded confident about his team’s chances while talking about the travel to nine different cities of the country throughout the tournament.
The Indian cricket team will travel to nine cities for the Cricket World Cup 2023 matches, and Dravid said players should embrace the unity in diversity.
The head coach also said that CWC 2023 is like a festival, as it offers fans across the country the opportunity to see their heroes from close quarters, and they are hoping to travel to 11 cities, as he is confident of making it to the final.
Rahul Dravid said: “We have to travel to nine cities and we have to play in front of our Indians fans and this is an opportunity for us, we can show our skills to them. I am hoping it's not nine, we will get to travel to 11 venues so that it becomes a memorable occasion for the fans.”
Speaking about the pitch and conditions, Dravid said: “We can try to read the pitches as much as we want, but in the end it is about how you execute on it, how one adapts to the conditions.”
On being asked how he feels about the fact that Rachin Ravindra has been named after him and Sachin Tendulkar, the Indian legend came up with a heart-wrenching answer. He said that Ravindra’s batting style is much more like Sachin’s attacking approach than his defensive style.
Dravid signed off by saying, “I have seen him save a Test match against us a couple of years ago. He is a good player…But on Thursday, I think it was the 'Chin' of his name that was playing a bigger role than the 'Ra'.”
