As the top 10 teams in the world battle it out in India from October 5 to November 19 to win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, England's all-time leading wicket-taker James Anderson came up with his predictions for the showpiece event.
The defending champions England and the runners-up New Zealand will resume the rivalry in the ODI World Cup 2023 opener at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, October 5.
Well, many cricket experts have made their predictions for the semi-finalists of the World Cup 2023, and India and England have been common on most of the experts’ lists, and Anderson is no different.
Anderson picked England, India, Australia, and South Africa as his four semi-finalists for the Cricket World Cup 2023.
The legendary pacer further went on to make a bold claim that India and England will clash for the World Cup Trophy on November 19, and the defending champions will trash the Men in Blue in front of their home crowd to secure their second title in Ahmedabad.
Speaking to the BBC Test Match Special, James Anderson said: “The semi-finalists will be England, India, Australia and South Africa. I like how South Africa turned it around in their series against Australia. Their batting is strong and they have nice options with the ball. Pakistan will be close, as will New Zealand, but both will miss out. I can see England beating India in a tight final.”
On the other hand, Steven Finn also picked England, New Zealand, India, and Pakistan as the semi-finalists. He backed India to win the World Cup 2023 given the recent trend of host country winning the title.
