CWC 2023: WATCH- Trent Boult imitates Sanju Samson during New Zealand’s warm-up game in Thiruvananthapuram

Samson, who captains Boult in RR, hails from Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala.

Trent Boult made the fans' day in Kerala as he imitated Sanju Samson | XNew Zealand pacer Trent Boult imitated Sanju Samson, his Rajasthan Royals skipper, during his team’s ICC World Cup 2023 warm-up match against South Africa on Monday (October 2). The match was played in Thiruvananthapuram, in Samson’s home state of Kerala.

The Black Caps got the better of the Proteas by seven runs to make it two wins in two warm-up matches. Opting to bat first, New Zealand posted a total of 321/6 with half-centuries from opener Devon Conway and skipper Tom Latham.

In reply, Trent Boult led the show with his 2 for 20 in five overs to restrict the Aiden Markram-led side to 211-4 in 37 overs, as Proteas needed 219 runs to win in the revised target due to rain. The left-arm pacer struck in his first over itself, getting Reeza Hendricks out LBW. He then dismissed dangerman Heinrich Klaasen as well.

Meanwhile, Boult won the hearts of the fans who had come to Greenfield Stadium to watch the match. Fielding at the boundary, Boult turned towards the fans in attendance and imitated Sanju Samson playing a shot.

Notably, Trent Boult and Sanju Samson play for the same IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals. In the viral video, amidst the loud cheers of fans, Boult can be seen imitating Samson near the boundary skirtings. He copied Samson's way of removing and wearing the cap and playing a shot in the air.
