CWC 2023: India’s ODI World Cup jersey pics leaked; fans outrage over two stars above BCCI emblem

India will start their ICC World Cup 2023 campaign on October 8 vs Australia in Chennai.

Leaked India WC jersey with 2 stars, while India Asia Cup jersey has 3 stars | XIndia will be hosting the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 from October 5 onwards when New Zealand and England will clash in the tournament opener in Ahmedabad. The Men in Blue will play Australia on October 8 in Chennai in their first match.

The Rohit Sharma-led side are presently in the midst of their Asia Cup 2023 campaign in Colombo and before facing Sri Lanka in the final on September 17, are facing off against Bangladesh in the last Super 4s stage game on September 15, 2023.

On Friday, during their match against Bangladesh, a glimpse of India's ODI World Cup jersey was leaked online. And within moments, it sparked a social media furor. This was because eagle-eyed fans noticed an intricate detail that made it different from that of the jersey worn in the ongoing Asia Cup campaign.

The only difference as seen in the leaked picture of the World Cup jersey with that of the Asia Cup jersey stands in the number of stars it has over the BCCI emblem on the chest. The Asia Cup jersey has three as opposed to the World Cup jersey which has two.

The three stars on the Asia Cup jersey signify the India's three World Cup wins - two in the ODI format in 1983 and 2011 and one in the T20 format in 2007. However, India has only won two ODI World Cups hence the two stars on the supposed World Cup jersey.

However, this was not alright for the Men in Blue fans who were outraged on social media.
