CWC 2023: “We don't need your advice”- Sunil Gavaskar irked with Pakistan, Australia experts opining on Indian team combination

India's World Cup 2023 15-member squad was announced recently.

Team India | GettyLegendary India batter Sunil Gavaskar laid into experts from other countries like Pakistan and Australia for giving their views on the Indian team combination, especially ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023.

Opinions about the team composition have flown in thick since the Indian team's Cricket World Cup 2023 lineup was announced. The Indian cricket team, which is among the favorites to win as hosts, has been the main topic of conversation.

Gavaskar said that former Pakistan and Australian cricketers have nothing to do with Indian cricket and they do not need their suggestions.

"If you see the statements that come out from their side...sadly our media gives them the prominence. We have Pakistan players, and Australian players selecting Indian team. How is it their concern? Do any Indian players go and select the Australian or the Pakistan team? It's none of our business. But we allow that," Sunil Gavaskar said on Sports Today.

From there it's always Babar is better than Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma; Shaheen Afridi is better than so and so. Inzamam-ul-Haq is better than Sachin Tendulkar. For them, they are always better than us. That is the way they have to cater to their audience,” he added.

Gavaskar said that they should not be given much importance as Indian newspapers and TV channels give high priority to such things and made it clear that they do not need the suggestions of foreign experts.

"Don't give them space in your papers. You have a South Africa saying a player should be in your team. You have an Australian saying. It happens too often. They say who should bat at no. 3 or no. 4. C'mon, we don't need your advice," Sunil Gavaskar said.

India will begin their World Cup 2023 campaign on October 8 in Chennai against Australia.
