There is a lot of buzz around the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, slated to be held in India from October 5 to November 19.
With less than 45 days remaining for the showpiece tournament, experts are back with their opinions.
On Saturday (August 26), legendary Australia opener Matthew Hayden named his 15-member India squad for the World Cup.
In a video posted by Star Sports on YouTube, Hayden revealed his 15. The notable inclusion in his squad was that of Sanju Samson, who hasn’t been considered for the Asia Cup 2023.
Middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav, who is yet to make a mark in the 50-over format, also featured in Hayden’s team. He picked Ishan Kishan as a backup wicketkeeper.
The rest of his squad was on the expected lines as the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul formed the batting line-up. The team has two seam-bowling all-rounders in Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur and a couple of spinning all-rounders in Ravindra Jadeja and Akshar Patel.
In the fast bowling department, Matthew Hayden included Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and Mohammed Siraj.
