CWC 2023: Pakistan committee expects 2016 T20 WC level security for Men in Green in upcoming World Cup- Report

Pakistan and India will most likely clash in CWC 2023 on October 14.

Pakistan | GettyThe high-level committee set up by the Pakistan PM and headed by Minister of foreign affairs Bilawal Bhutto has expectations that the Pakistan team will receive the same level of security in the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2023, that they got during the 2016 T20 World Cup, which was also held in India.

The committee also reportedly directed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to formally communicate with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding security concerns and the upcoming visit by the reconnaissance team.

As per a report of Cricbuzz, despite the tense situation between the two countries, the Pakistan committee wants to endorse the Men in Green touring India for the World Cup as they want to emphasize the separation of sports from politics.

The committee, formed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, was tasked with providing recommendations to the government regarding the team's participation in the World Cup scheduled from October 5 to November 19.

Apart from Bilawal Bhutto, other members who attended the important meeting were Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Pakistan's adviser Qamar Zaman Qaira, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar.

Pakistan's matches are slated to take place in Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kolkata. As per the existing schedule, their inaugural match is against the Netherlands in Hyderabad, with a highly anticipated match against India in Ahmedabad, likely on October 14.

Though the BCCI have nominated Mumbai and Kolkata as the venues of the semi-finals, if Pakistan makes it into the knockouts, then their match will be played in Kolkata regardless of who they will face.
