The Indian women’s team scripted history on Sunday (November 2) after beating South Africa by 52 runs in the final to clinch their maiden ODI World Cup trophy at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Subsequently, the BCCI declared that the team, along with the support staff, will receive a total prize money of Rs 51 crore in recognition of their monumental achievement. The state governments followed suit with rewards for players from their respective regions.
On Thursday (November 6), Tata Motors - the Indian multinational automotive manufacturer - announced a special reward for the World Cup-winning side.
The soon-to-be-launched Tata Sierra will be presented to each member of the Women’s World Cup-winning Indian team.

Their journey stands as a true testament to determination and the power of belief, qualities that inspire every Indian," Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd, said.
The ICC had announced a whopping prize pool ahead of the tournament. The global body awarded India a massive payout of Rs 37.3 crore. These are staggering figures, marking a 239 percent increase in the winner's prize from 2022, when Australia received around Rs 11 crore.
The total prize pool for the 2025 Women's World Cup stands at Rs 116 crore, nearly three times higher than the Rs 29 crore distributed in the 2022 tournament in New Zealand.
Talking about India’s triumphant campaign, it was far from smooth as the Women in Blue faced heavy backlash in the middle of the tournament following their three successive defeats against South Africa, Australia and England.
However, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side showed exemplary mental strength to bounce back and script history, defeating Australia and South Africa in the semi-final and final to lift the coveted trophy.
