Smriti Mandhana was overjoyed when Amanjot Singh scored the match-winning four against Australia on Thursday. With the win, India secured a semifinal victory and advanced to the finals of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.
Jemimah Rodrigues was the difference maker, finishing unbeaten on 127 off 134 balls with 14 fours. Given that India had lost both of their openers early on, this was a huge win. Harmanpreet Kaur also made 89, while Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh made winning contributions with the bat.
In a recent social media video, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana is seen in an emotional and joyful mood after Amanjot knocks the match-winning four.
Mandhana can be seen rushing into the field, past the boundary ropes, and was among the first to approach Jemimah. Mandhana was also very distressed as she held Jemimah, who was in tears.
Mandhana also gave Harmanpreet Kaur a long, loving hug. The opener was also seen encouraging supporters to rally for Jemimah.
