Jasprit Bumrah | GettyPace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has returned to Mumbai ahead of India’s Asia Cup 2023 fixture against Nepal in Pallekele on Monday (September 4).

According to a RevSportz report, Bumrah has returned home due to personal reasons and he is likely to join the team in Sri Lanka before the Super 4 stage.

Mohammad Shami, who wasn’t picked in the playing XI for India’s Asia Cup opener against Pakistan, is set to replace Bumrah in the line-up for the game versus Nepal.

Notably, Bumrah returned to international cricket after a long injury lay-off during the T20I tour of Ireland last month. The right-arm quick claimed four wickets from two T20Is at an average of 9.75 and earned the Player-of-the-Series award.

While Bumrah featured in India’s playing XI for the Asia Cup clash against Pakistan, he didn’t get a chance to bowl as the match was called off without a ball being bowled in the second innings due to incessant rain.

During India’s innings, Bumrah chipped in with a handy contribution of 16 from 14 balls with three boundaries.
