The arch-rivals go head-to-head in an ODI after four years.

Pakistan will play an unchanged XI against India | PCB

Pakistan have announced an unchanged team for the high-octane Asia Cup 2023 clash against India on Saturday (September 2) at Pallekele in Kandy.

The hosts retained the same unit that crushed Nepal by 238 runs in the tournament opener that was played in Multan on August 30, with captain Babar Azam (151) and Iftikhar Ahmed (109*) scoring hundreds before the bowlers routed Nepal for just 104 in little over 23 overs.

Pakistan will go into the match with Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf as their pacers, who will be complimented by Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz in the spin department.

The batting department sees Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq as openers, followed by Babar Azam, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Agha and Iftikhar Ahmed.

India will announce their XI at the toss, as has been the pattern with the Rohit Sharma-led side.

Pakistan and India will be playing in ODIs after a gap of more than four years, as they last battled each other in the 2019 edition of ODI World Cup. The Asian Giants have played four T20 internationals in this time with both winning two each.

Pakistan XI vs India: Babar Azam (c), Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Salman Ali Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan (vc), Mohammad Nawaz, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf.
