The Indian team is sweating it out in Alur, Karnataka as they prepare for the Asia Cup 2023 tournament which will be played in a hybrid model from August 30 onwards. India will play its first match against Pakistan on September 2nd in Sri Lanka.
The 6-day training camp in Alur saw Indian team players undergoing fitness tests and drills for the first 2 days and then switched to nets training and match simulations. The focus of the practice sessions is on both physical and mental preparation. The players are working on their fitness and stamina, as well as their skills and technique.
In the latest video posted by the BCCI, several Indian players are seen getting into the ODI groove with Jasprit Bumrah facing off against Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj trying his best against Virat Kohli.
Also the likes of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Sanju Samson and Mohammad Shami got some much needed practice for the Asia Cup challenge.
KL Rahul seemed to be inching closer to full fitness and was spotted doing his wicket-keeping drills. Earlier, on Day 1 of the camp, Rahul batted for more than an hour but did not participate in keeping drills.
BCCI revealed on Tuesday, that while Rahul is progressing well, he will not be available for India’s first two matches in Asia Cup 2023 – against Pakistan and Nepal.
Mohammed Shami, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav also had a fair bit of practice. Skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid were spotted keeping a keen eye on proceedings.
